Teaching Philosophy and Mission Statement
In my role as an educator, I am committed to nurturing students' development by fostering a growth mindset and educational process that allows them to reach their full potential. When working with dancers, I place importance on validating their unique talents and strengths. I believe that every individual possesses inherent qualities that lay the foundation for exceptional artistry.
I am a firm believer that proficiency in technical skills plays a key role in boosting dancers' confidence and elevating their performance. As dancers enhance their technical abilities through dedicated practice and skill development, they not only grow in skill but also gain the assurance needed to deliver and create choreography. This progression in both technical proficiency and confidence is essential for achieving excellence along with allowing for student agency and providing students with a constructivist approach.
Emphasizing the significance of having a growth mindset in dance, I promote the idea that focusing on the learning process and continuous improvement is more meaningful than fixating on achieving perfection in execution. By prioritizing growth over immediate results, dancers are able to embrace the journey of learning and self-discovery, ultimately leading to a deeper appreciation for their craft.
